nurses working collaboratively on interprofessional teams.

Discussion: Groups
The dynamic and increasingly complex world of health care often requires nurses to work collaboratively on interprofessional teams. In the group environment, individuals with unique skills and expertise come together to focus on a common goal; however, groups must become cohesive before they can become effective.
Your experiences working with groups—whether you perceive them as positive, negative, or neutral—can be used to facilitate insight and development. Health care, with its focus on interprofessional teamwork and collaboration, offers ample opportunities and an imperative for continuous learning.
For this Discussion, you focus on strategies for facilitating the group process.
To prepare:

  • Review the information in this week’s Learning Resources regarding the stages of group formation, problematic roles individuals play in groups, and strategies for facilitating and maintaining positive group collaboration. In particular, review Learning Exercise 19.14 of the course text.
  • Reflect on various groups with which you have been or are currently involved. Select one specific group to analyze for the purposes of this Discussion. Identify the purpose or task that the group is or was meant to perform.
  • Consider the four stages of group formation (forming, storming, norming, and performing). How would you describe the progression between stages? Is there a stage in which you believe your group is or was “stuck”?
  • Consider the task or group-building role you normally play in a group setting. How could you apply the information from the Learning Resources to improve your group participation and facilitation, as well as the functioning of the group as a whole?
  • In addition, think about which individuals within your group (including yourself) may fall into problematic roles such as the Dominator, the Aggressor, or the Blocker. How have you and your group members addressed the enactment of these roles and its impact on interactions? With information from the Learning Resources in mind, what strategies would you apply now or going forward?

By Day 3
Post a description of a group with which you have been or are currently involved. Assess where the group is in terms of the four stages of group formation. If you are reflecting on a past experience, explain if your group moved through all four stages. Describe the task or group-building role you typically play, or played, in this group. Then, explain what strategies you, as a leader, can apply to better facilitate the group process and address any problematic individual roles in the group.

PHARMACOVIGILANCE PLAYS A KEY ROLE IN ASSESSING THE RISKS ASSOCIATED WITH DIFFERENT PHARMACEUTICAL PRODUCTS AND MAKING SURE THEY ARE SAFE TO BE USED BY ALL PATIENTS WITH NEGLIGIBLE SIDE EFFECTS.

Please answer this discussion post with a minimum of two paragraphs, two journal reviews within the past 5 years, NO PLAGIARISM, APA Style.

Hello Class,

Drug and medication safety take center stage when caring for a patient because if safety measures are not adhered to, there is a high risk of medical errors occurring which translate to medical expenses. Nurses spend a considerable amount of time with patience and therefore, they have to be equipped with sufficient skills to deal with drug safety. Drug safety which is also referred to as Pharmacovigilance (PhV or PV) is a science which related to collecting information which aids in detecting, assessing, monitoring and preventing negative effects as a result of pharmaceutical products (Smeulers, Onderwater, Van Zwieten, and Vermeulen, 2014).

Pharmacovigilance plays a key role in assessing the risks associated with different pharmaceutical products and making sure they are safe to be used by all patients with negligible side effects. According to Smeulers, Onderwater, Van Zwieten, and Vermeulen, (2014) the process is also important because it helps pharmacists to assess the risks of benefit of pharmaceutical products. Nurses usually take initiative and care for patients to make sure patients are not subjected to medical errors. Nurses normally prepare the drugs for the patients taking note of the required dosage. They also constantly monitor a patient and review the patient’s reaction to the medication which they have been prescribed.

A working strategy that could help nurses as well as patients promote drug safety is risk awareness (Aschenbrenner and Venable, 2015). Risk awareness is a powerful tool and strategy which could help greatly because nurses have knowledge on most of the drugs used to treat certain ailments. Nurses need to be educated on possible risks because it helps them to perceive risks from drugs issued. Another benefit of nurses being aware of risks from other drugs is that they are more likely to lase with physicians and offer helpful suggestions and feedback regarding the drug.

In their book, Aschenbrenner and Venable (2015) drug safety is important for registered nurses in advanced nursing practice because it helps improve quality of healthcare that patients receive. Nurses in advanced practice also work as drug safety associates and also as patient advocates and become involved in research to ensure patients get the best drugs.

experiment conducted ethically

I feel that the experiment was conducted ethically. Some will say the denial of release upon initial request was unethical, but all participants agreed to the trial beforehand. The participants who showed signs of distress were in fact released, and all precautions were taken to avoid critical harm. The experiment was terminated prematurely to prevent psychological and physical damage to the “prisoners” and “guards.” Situational and dispositional influences were displayed throughout the scenario. Some guards blamed their behavior on the scripts they were provided, and the traits they were attempting to replicate. The remaining guards did not try to stop the behavior due to the environment. If the experiment were conducted differently, you would get similar results. Although, certain behavior is unacceptable we tend to overlook it because it is considered normal. For example, the mistreatment that prisoners may endure on a daily basis is ignored because of their crimes, prisoner stigma, and conception that all prisoners deserve to be stripped of fundamental human rights. If you were to witness the type of treatment displayed in the experiment in a shopping mall, grocery store, or church you’d likely step in or contact the proper authorities to halt the mistreatment. In order to address the ethical concerns, the guards must be held accountable for their actions. I feel that you could still gain similar results if you implement complaint procedures. For example, real prisoners have the option to report corrections officers for misconduct or inappropriate behavior. If found guilty the officer could be reprimanded in several ways or even terminated from the current position. The psychological concepts of conformity and the power of the social situation were evident on the first day of the experiment. Although the prisoners were aware of what they signed up for they allowed themselves to be blindfolded, strip-searched, and taken into custody by real police officers without any form of resistance. These are all examples of conformity.

General Guidelines: Given a business scenario that requires
the use of healthcare information technology, analyze, evaluate, and recommend
a healthcare application systems solution. Such solutions include but are not
limited to: electronic medical records, patient care systems, patient
monitoring systems, pharmacy systems, imaging solutions, physician practices,
laboratory systems, surgical information systems, and clinical decision
support/decision-making systems.

Submit the research findings (your literature review) on
possible solutions to address the business problem (50 points). This partial
yet major submission covers your research findings. This section should
indicate at least three possible solutions to the problems, issues, or opportunities.
Discuss the articles you read and the three options identified as possible
solutions to the business problem faced by the organization. The advantages and
disadvantages of each solution should be discussed against a set of weighted
objectives; support from current literature is expected. In addition, please
include your References page, listing the references identified in your
research (minimum of seven).

Discuss your library search strategies and briefly summarize the literature you reviewed.

Hello I am a Family Nurse Practitioner student. I hope to work in cardiology, labor and delivery, or a family primary clinic (this information is just to help with a possible topic). I have worked in cardiology, surgery and oncology (just to help with topic ). Once you have chosen a topic and have found 3 articles please let me know what the topic is and what three articles you will be using because these articles has to be on my school library database. Must be in APA format and articles no older than 5 years. This is a discussion question, 1-2 page min (as long as everything is address). I can provide an example of this assignment.

In this course, each of you will be developing a research proposal. Our focus this week is to identify a problem specific to your role option that is amenable to an innovative solution.

Based on your specialty role option (Nurse Practitioner) identify a potential problem (topic) that you would like to investigate through nursing research. Begin by reading the American Association of Colleges of Nursing’s (AACN) position statement on nursing research (http://www.aacn.nche.edu/publications/position/nursing-research).

Conduct a search to locate a minimum of three nursing research articles that have addressed the problem you have identified. The literature may not be older than 5 years. After reading the literature respond to the following:

Note your role specialization and briefly describe the problem you are interested in researching and why this is of interest to you.

Discuss your library search strategies and briefly summarize the literature you reviewed. Focus your discussion on the “problem” and how the literature you identified provides evidence of the existence of the problem.

Include in your discussion a potential innovation that you might consider as a solution to the problem identified.

Include citations/references in APA style format, using citations where appropriate.

Working With People With Disabilities

Human Interactions 11-1

Zastrow and Kirst-Ashman (2016) stated, “Clients are affected by and in constant dynamic interactions with other systems, including families, groups, organizations, and communities” (p. 35-36). As a social worker, when you address the needs of an individual client, you also take into account the systems with which the client interacts. Obtaining information about these systems helps you better assess your client’s situation. These systems may provide support to the client, or they may contribute to the client’s presenting problem.

For this Discussion, review “Working With People With Disabilities: The Case of Lester.”Consider the systems with which Lester Johnson, the client, interacts. Think about ways you might apply a systems perspective to his case. Also, consider the significance of the systems perspective for social work in general.

Post a Discussion in which you explain how multiple systems interact to impact individuals. Explain how you, as a social worker, might apply a systems perspective to your work with Lester Johnson. Finally, explain how you might apply a systems perspective to social work practice.

The Deaf Culture

Discussion—Low-Incidence Exceptionalities: The Deaf Culture

There is a greater variety of cultures than those related to ethnicity, religion, or geography. For example, there is also the deaf culture. One low-incidence exceptionality you may have learned about in children is deafness. Although it might seem an easy decision to utilize technology such as cochlear implants to enable someone to hear, there are many issues to consider.

View the following video:

  • Aronson, J. (Producer & Director). (2006). Sound and fury: Six years later[Documentary]. United States: Filmakers Library. Retrieved from http://flon.alexanderstreet.com.libproxy.edmc.edu/View/1650486

Based on your readings and analysis of the video, address the following:

  • Explain the lessons individuals from the hearing and deaf cultures learned from each other.
  • Describe the impact early intervention might have for individuals with hearing impairment (including social, communication-related, and emotional repercussions).
  • Synthesize the information from your readings and from the video to explain how you might utilize the information to work with children with low-incidence exceptionalities (beyond hearing impairment) and their families. Provide a minimum of three recommendations.

Write your initial response in 300–500 words. Apply APA standards to citation of sources.
