NCSBN implemented a three phased study on simulation. Phase I consisted of surveying 1060 Associate and Baccalaureate program from all 50 states on the prevalence of simulation use. Phase II was a randomized control study, and Phase III was a longitudinal study on simulation.
NCSBN found the following with students who received up to 50% simulation training in place of clinicals: (a) no statistical difference in clinical competency, (b) no statistical difference in nursing knowledge, and (c) no statistical differences in NCLEX pass rates.
