What’s one way she might be able to obtain a bank credit card

NANCY SILBERMANN IS ABOUT TO GET A DEGREE IN NURSING.

A year after declaring bankruptcy and moving with her daughter back into her parents’ home Nancy Silbermann is about to get a degree in nursing. As she starts out in a new career she also wants to begin a new life. One built on a solid financial base. Nancy will be starting out as a full-time nurse at a salary of $52 000 a year and she plans to continue working at a second (part-time) nursing job with an annual income of $10 500. SheII be paying back $24 000 in bankruptcy debts and wants to be able to move into an apartment within a year and then buy a condo or house in five years. Nancy won’t have to pay rent for the time that she lives with her parents. She also will have child care at no cost which will continue after she and her daughter are able to move out on their own. While the Jiving arrangement with her parents is great financially the accommodations are tight and Nancy’s work hours interfere with her parents’ routines. Everyone agrees that one more year of this is about all the family can take. However before Nancy is able to make a move-even into a rented apartment she will have to re-establish credit over and above paying off her bankruptcy debts. To rent the kind of place she’d like she needs to have a good credit record for a year; to buy a home she must sustain that credit standing for at least three to five years. 1. In addition to opening checking and savings accounts what else might Nancy do to begin establishing credit with a bank? 2. Although Nancy is unlikely to be able to obtain a major bank credit card for at least a year how might she begin establishing credit with local merchants? 3. What’s one way she might be able to obtain a bank credit card?  Explain. 4. How often should Nancy monitor her credit standing with credit reporting services

Common misconceptions about career counseling

Informational Interview

Employment centers, also known as one-stop career centers, have become increasingly popular as jobs become more competitive and the process for securing employment becomes more complex. Upon accessing these centers, clients can utilize a wide variety of services, including access to the Internet to search major employment websites, career assessment and testing, resume and cover letter support, online employment application support, and job-readiness training. Career counselors must be familiar with all of these areas to best support their clients.
To complete this assignment, visit a one-stop career center or local career center (or a career center online) and evaluate the services available. As part of the visit, schedule an appointment to meet with a career counselor and conduct an informational interview. Gather information on the following:

  • Role of the career counselor
    • Responsibilities carried out on a typical work day
    • Common challenges experienced in providing career services
    • Common misconceptions about career counseling
    • How theory informs work with clients
    • Advantages and disadvantages of online versus in-person counseling
  • Types of services available
  • Assessment and testing options
  • Sources of occupational and educational information available
  • Access to services (availability, cost, length, etc.)
  • Evaluate the Zeren (2015) article

After gathering the above information, write a 1750- to 2450-word (5- to 7-page) paper, not including the title and references pages, discussing your findings. Conclude with an evaluation of the overall services available and recommendations for improvement.
Use at least three scholarly sources in addition to the course text within the paper. Sources can be used to support your analysis of the visit.

Describe how to build group consensus around the group structure and rules.

In this assignment, you will build on the research conducted for the group counseling special topic paper. The purpose of this assignment is to design a developmentally appropriate and culturally sensitive group for the specific clinical issue or population you selected in M4 Assignment 2 RA. Group counseling theories and techniques will provide the framework for the activities outlined in the group counseling proposal. In addition, ethical and legal considerations, including crisis management or suicidal or homicidal ideation, will be addressed in the proposal to promote a successful implementation of the group.
Scenario:
Your agency administrator has given you the green light to develop a new counseling group for the specified population or clinical issue. You have been asked to create a six-session group counseling proposal to work with the identified population to provide counseling or psychoeducation for a specific treatment issue. You may or may not be leading this group yourself. Thus, the group proposal needs to be detailed enough for a coworker to run the group without you.
Instructions:
Develop a proposal for a psychoeducation or counseling group that will run for six sessions (90 minutes per session with adults or 30–45 minutes with children). The proposal should include the following:

  • Describe the overall structure of the group.
  • The purpose and goals of the group (e.g., treatment issue, rationale for group).
  • The length, frequency, and duration of the group.
  • The cultural and developmental considerations in the rationale for the group.
  • Define eligibility criteria, recruitment strategies, and screening techniques. Include cultural and developmental considerations as related to participant recruitment.
  • Analyze and recommend group leadership appropriate for this proposed group.
  • Describe a leadership style and roles for the leader of group.
  • Give concrete examples of appropriate group intervention strategies, such as process comments, empathic responses, self-disclosure, feedback, confrontation, and pacing skills across the various stages of a group’s development.
  • Generate proposed group norms, process, and procedures. Be specific.
  • Structure of the group (e.g., open or closed groups).
  • Group rules.
  • Describe how to build group consensus around the group structure and rules.
  • Propose activities and interventions for each session, giving details, and describe how these fit the anticipated stage of the group process. (Include group handouts in an appendix as needed).
  • Include cultural and developmental considerations while describing activities.
  • Explain ethical and legal considerations.
  • Describe how crisis in the group will be handled (e.g., psychological first aid strategies for suicidal or homicidal ideation).
  • Briefly mention any additional ethical or legal considerations as noted in the special topic paper or additional considerations that are relevant to this specific group.
  • Explain the group’s evaluation criteria. What will determine whether group goals have been met?
  • Summarize your proposal and rationale in a paragraph.

Your final product should be a 12-page Microsoft Word document (including the cover page, references, and appendix), using a minimum of 5 scholarly sources. At least one of your references should be from the Journal for Specialists in Group Work. Be sure you write in a clear, concise, and organized manner; demonstrate ethical scholarship in accurate representation and attribution of sources; display accurate spelling, grammar, and punctuation. Healthcare Delivery Issues include any obstacles in the practice of health care delivery. For example, the doctor shortage is a major issue in Canada, which leads to a myriad of downstream repercussions, such as longer waiting times. According to the Canadian Medical Association, 4-5 million people still do not have a family physician.¹ In Ontario, although the Ontario Health Budget has practically doubled in the past decade, Canadian health care still falls short of needs; many individuals attribute it to a health care system plagued by too much bureaucracy.

describes the planning hierarchy and provides foundational information on strategic planning.

By Day 3
Post an explanation of how you view the similarities and differences between the nursing process and the strategic planning process. Share an example from the literature that demonstrates why it is beneficial for nurse leader-managers to be aware of the planning hierarchy and why they should be engaged in strategic planning in addition to and in contrast with operational planning.
Marquis,  B. L., & Huston, C. J. (2017). Leadership roles and management  functions in nursing: Theory and application (9th ed.). Philadelphia,  PA: Lippincott, Williams & Wilkins.Chapter 7, “Operational Planning”                                          (Note: You may have read this in a previous course.)                                          This chapter describes the planning hierarchy and provides foundational information on strategic planning. As you read, think about distinctions between strategic and operational planning, as well as why a nurse leader-manager needs to be aware of and engaged in both.Sare, M. V., & Ogilvie, L. (2010). Strategic planning for nurses: Change management in health care. Sudbury, MA: Jones and Bartlett.“Introduction” (pp. xiii–xiv)Chapter 1, “Why Nursing Needs Strategic Planning: Professional Empowerment in the New Millennium” (pp. 3–16) Chapter 2, “The Healthcare Habitat: The Evolving Professional Home of Nursing” (pp. 17–40) Chapter 3, “The Business That We Find Ourselves In” (pp. 41–53) Chapter 4, “Just What Is Strategic Planning?” (pp. 57–82) Chapter 1 sets the context for why strategic planning is important for nurses and introduces key terms, while Chapter 2 addresses the evolving landscape of healthcare. Chapter 3 explores the merging of nursing care and business, as well as developments leading up to the current business model of care. Chapter 4 examines the nursing process and strategic planning.Carney, M. (2009). Enhancing the nurses’ role in healthcare delivery through strategic management: Recognizing its importance or not? Journal of Nursing Management, 17(6), 707–717.Retrieved from the Walden Library databases. The author examines the importance of strategic planning for nurse leader-managers and the extent to which nurses have adopted strategic planning into language and self-perception.

A useful resource related to this discussion: Overview of the Nursing Process [PDF File Size 331 KB].
A 16-year-old boy arrived at the Emergency Department (ED) after collapsing during a 3-hour practice at summer football camp. The patient had the required physical examination prior to attending the camp, and there were no concerns or physical restrictions documented. He received intravenous (IV) fluids in the ambulance, and is awake upon arrival to the ED. He complains of thirst and dizziness. He has not voided since prior to practice, has dry mucous membranes and tenting. The patient’s pulse is 136 beats per minute, and blood pressure is 88/52 mm Hg. When questioned about the situation leading to his collapse, he states he forgot his water bottle in his room, and was very hot in the required gear. He felt thirsty, but thought he might be seen as weak if he complained to the coach.
Initial Discussion Post:
In your nursing diagnosis book, refer to the NANDA-I definitions for the following nursing diagnoses:
Deficient Fluid Volume
Risk for Electrolyte Imbalance
• Which of the two nursing diagnoses would be the priority for this patient?
• Describe what data was clustered to determine the nursing diagnosis.
