Experimental-Research-Methods-in-Psychology-psychology-homework-help

It is reasonable to admit that in four weeks you have been exposed to a great deal of information about the human mind! This assignment will give you the opportunity to examine how the knowledge that you have acquired during the past weeks may tie together. You will explore a phenomenon which interests you, highlight the methodologies used to study it, uncover the results obtained, and assess the validity of the knowledge acquired. These activities will to make you aware of the intrinsic relationship between knowledge of specific mental and behavioral phenomena, as well as the limitations of the techniques used to study them.  Knowledge in cognitive psychology, is largely gathered by means of experiments. Thus, it is important that you become intimately familiar with this data-gathering method.  The goal of the assignment is to ensure that you have a good understanding of specific cognitive psychological phenomena as well as experiments that are often used to investigate such phenomena.  Abide by the instructions listed below:

  • Watch the video, Experimental Research Methods in Psychology, on the experimental method:
  • Go to the Ashford University Library or Google Scholar and select one peer-reviewed article on a topic of interest among those discussed in our class.  If you prefer, you may select an article from this list.
  • Describe the main research questions that the study attempts to answer, state the main hypothesis (prediction) made by the researchers, and identify the key variables.  Keep in mind that a description of the main question of the study entails an explanation of the importance of the question (i.e., illustrates the gap in the existing literature).
  • Describe the critical characteristics of both the participants and the procedure(s) used.
  • Summarize the main findings.  How do these findings answer the question that the researchers formulated in the introductory section of the article?
  • Explain the extent to which the findings answer the research question.  Do the findings support their research question (or prediction)?
  • Illustrate the weaknesses and strengths of the selected study.  For instance, ask yourself  questions such as: Is the technique used to understand the selected phenomenon able to gather adequate information about it? How does this technique compare to other techniques used in cognitive psychology? Do the findings of the selected study generalize to individuals who may be different from those who participated (young versus older adults)? Please note that research articles often contain more than one study. Thus, in this assignment, you are given the opportunity to describe each experiment separately or focus on what you believe to be the most significant experiment.

Formal-Logic-Help-Argument-Forms-and-Fallacies-writing-homework-help

The following selections were taken from letters to the editor of newspapers. Each contains one or more arguments, but the exact form of the argument may be hidden or ambiguous.

Choose one of the following, and use the argument forms to structure the selection as a specifically named argument.

1. OK, I’ve tried it for a week again this year, but I still don’t like daylight-saving time. My grass is brown enough already—it doesn’t need another hour of daylight each day. Let’s turn the clocks back to the way God intended—standard time. (Jim Orr)

2. The religious right, in its impassioned fervor to correct our alleged moral wrongs and protect the rights of our unborn “children,” may one day realize its ultimate goal of a constitutional amendment banning abortion. And what will the punishment be for those caught performing or receiving an abortion? The death penalty, of course. (David Fisher)

3. If voluntary school prayer for our children is going to make them more moral, then just think what mandatory church attendance on Sunday could do for the rest of us. (Roderick M. Boyes)

4. A country that replaces the diseased hearts of old white men but refuses to feed schoolchildren, pay women adequately, educate adolescents, or care for the elderly—that country is doomed. We are acting as if there is no tomorrow. Where is our shame? (Robert Birch)

5. Regarding the bill to require parental consent for a minor’s abortion, I would like to point out that the pious platitudes about parental authority quickly fall by the wayside when the minor wants to keep the baby and the parents say, “Don’t be silly! You have an abortion and finish your education.” If the parents can veto a minor’s abortion, shouldn’t they also be able to require one? Better the choice, either pro or con, be left to the girl/woman herself. (Jane Roberts)

What-were-the-concerns-about-allowing-or-banning-slavery-in-newly-established-territories-during-the-1800s-assignment-help-

What were the concerns about allowing or banning slavery in newly established territories during the 1800s? Your response should talk about the two sides of the decision to include new territories as either slave or free states, not the two sides of the slavery debate in general.

This should be in at least 300 words.

Remember to write in your own words and in complete sentences.

Also keep in mind, this assignment is not asking you to discuss the debate over slavery. It is asking you to discuss the debate over entering free or slave states into the union.

Revolution-Terrorism-and-War-homework-help

The United States came into existence after fighting a protracted guerilla and insurgency campaign against British rule. Colonists’ efforts were supported by France, Germany and others.

Northern Ireland came into existence with the British Government of Ireland Act (1920) that divided Ireland into two areas: the Irish Free State, made up of the 26 southern counties, and Northern Ireland.

Starting in the late 1960s, the Irish Republican Army (IRA), the clandestine armed wing of the political movement Sinn Fein, conducted a guerrilla campaign against British control of Northern Ireland (also known as Ulster). Traditional IRA activities have included bombings, assassinations, kidnappings, punishment beatings, extortion, smuggling, and robberies. The IRA is bolstered by political and economic assistance from the international community as they pursue their goal of removing British forces from Northern Ireland and reunifying the nation.

Similarly, the socio-political party Hamas, in Palestine, was created in 1987 as an uprising against Israeli rule in the disputed Palestinian territories. The members receive foreign support from Syria and Iran as well as others. The armed wing of Hamas uses tactics similar to those of the IRA in an effort to achieve its political goals. Just as the IRA has received economic and political assistance from members of the international community, so has Hamas, including Syria and Iran.

Beginning in December, 2010, waves of protests in Tunisia spread through the Arab world in what is known as the Arab Spring. Tunisia, Algeria, Jordan, Egypt, Yemen, Bahrain and Syria were affected by organized demonstrations that have, in some cases, led to the toppling of governments, most notably that of Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak in February, 2011.

Are members of the IRA, Hamas and various protest movements in the Arab world “terrorists” or are they “freedom fighters”? What is the difference? At what point does a political contest or method cross the ethical line between “legitimate” or “illegitimate”? Explain your answer.

Adhere to APA formatting and reference guidelines when writing your response. Additionally, your response should be free of grammatical errors, use complete sentences, and give specific details to support statements.

Planning-Negotiations-BUS-340-Contract-and-Purchase-Negotiation-Week-3-Assignment-2

Assignment 2: Planning Negotiations

Due Week 3 and worth 160 points

You become the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, and the President of the United States advises you that he doesn’t want the U.S. to sign a new environmental bill. He feels it will harm well developed nations with a strong economic history and only benefit developing, or so-called “Third World,” nations.

Use the Internet or Strayer databases to research the U.N. member’s varying viewpoints on the new environmental bill.

Write a two to three (2-3) page paper in which you:

  1. Outline a plan that includes three (3) types of negotiation approaches covered in Chapters 1-17 for handling the negotiation that will either create a deadlock, an impasse, or a stalemate.
  2. Compare the United Nations member’s stances on the new environmental bill.
  3. Examine at least three (3) common stances of opposing U.N. members in which you would need to provide a rebuttal based on your research. Justify your response.
  4. Use at least three (3) quality resources in this assignment. Note: Wikipedia and similar Websites do not qualify as quality resources.

Your assignment must follow these formatting requirements:

  • Be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides; citations and references must follow APA or school-specific format. Check with your professor for any additional instructions.
  • Include a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student’s name, the professor’s name, the course title, and the date. The cover page and the reference page are not included in the required assignment page length.

explain-one-way-that-you-use-a-database-computer-science-homework-help

Recall that databases are a quick and easy way to retrieve small pieces of information, contained within a large mass of records or data. While you may not realize it, you probably use a database on a daily basis, and databases have grown to be a very important part of our everyday lives.

For example, when you rent a movie from the local video store, they most likely use a database to retrieve your information. When you hand them your card to check out a movie, the database pulls up your information, and assigns the movie to your name in the database. The database makes this process simple, quick, and accurate.

In a 1-page paper, explain one way that you use a database; this can be something as simple as renting a video like the example above. Describe how you use the database, and how you think the database makes that process easier. In addition, if you could redesign the database you described, how would you do it and what changes would you make?
