• Questions to discuss:
  • How does the Exemplars criteria for both math and reading rubrics follow a top-down or bottom-up approach? How do you know?
  • To what degree are performance level descriptions addressed?
  • Do these live up to what Brookhart proposes, that “. . .the most important aspect of the levels is that performance be described, with language that depicts what one would observe in the work rather than the quality conclusions one would draw” (p.26)?
  • In your opinion, what are the values placed on using the terminology for mastery (Novice, Apprentice, Practitioner, and Expert)? In other words, how effective do you believe this terminology is and why?

Part 2:

• Explain the position Brookhart argues in Chapter 2 against rubrics that merely summarize the requirements of the task, as opposed to rubrics that describe evidence of learning.

The scan will include the external political, economic/financial, sociopolitical, and technological trends for a given market environment and a potential market. The information gathered from this scan will assist in the identification of the most lucrative market niche in which to formulate an actual business development strategy in Milestone Four. 

A. External Factors 

1. PEST Analysis: Complete a PEST analysis on the external factors that affect the company’s readiness to compete. What are the political, economic, social, and technological factors that affect the company? 

2. Prioritized List: Based on the PEST analysis, examine and address the key issue from each quadrant to assist in the success of your chosen company. Include supporting rationale and research as needed. 

3. Readiness: Based on external factors, evaluate the company’s readiness to compete in the business environment of the market domain. Support your evaluation with information from your market domain evaluation and PEST analysis.

Write a procedural email message to employees on subject of the student’s choice from the options below. Light research will need to be completed to find a suitable example company and the email should be written as though you are a representative from that company communicating with staff members. Include a valid link to the situation in the body of the email. Be creative! (Example can be found on page 76, Figure 5.1, of the course text.) The options are:

1. An updated social media policy in response to a recent problem
2. A policy change related to an information hack within the last year

The message should take the form of an email; however, you will submit your assignment to the online course shell.

The procedural message must adhere to the following requirements:

Please read the General Descriptions and Stalin Speeches.  Time willing, try to sample some of the scholarly analysis.  Then discuss to what extent you think the decision to pursue rapid industrialization was forced upon the Bolsheviks or was a matter of preference.  Please explain your reasoning.  If you do not think it was a matter of necessity, what alternatives did they have?
