Unless you are the chief of a police department of one (and there are some of those), you are going to need some people. As you learned listening to Chief Perez, in creating her department, she had to hire every one, she had to determine the ranks, she had to determine the positions, both sworn and civilian. What type of candidates will you want? What will be the requirements? So, for this week, you will determine the entry level requirements for your candidates. Will there be an entrance examination? If, so, what will it measure and why? If there is a physical agility test, what exercises will be used? Will there be different forms of exercises for males and females and will those differences stand court challenges? Will you polygraph your candidates and which areas for questioning can be used? Will you conduct background investigations and how extensive and invasive will they be and how much will they cost? What else will you include?

Write a six to eight (6-8) page paper in which you: remember this is a business class

1. Specify the nature, structure, types of products or service of your chosen organization, and two (2) key factors in the organization’s external environment that can affect its success. Provide explanation to support the rationale.  
2. Examine three (3) salient stakeholders of the chosen organization based on their key roles and relationships with the company.
3. Suggest five (5) ways in which the primary stakeholders can influence the organization’s financial performance. Provide support for the response.
4. Specify one (1) controversial corporate social responsibility concern associated with your selected organization. 
5. Assuming you are the leader of the most influential stakeholder group, outline a plan to form a stakeholder coalition to force the organization to address your chosen controversial issue. The plan should include the key steps that you would take to identify members for your coalition group, the major reasons why you believe that the particular target group can help you to accomplish your goal, and the method you would utilize to foster collaboration among the various groups you target. 
6. Assume the role as the leader of the most influential stakeholder group, and indicate three (3) potential challenges that you may face in encouraging stakeholders to form a coalition to help you achieve your goals. Suggest the significant steps that you would take in order to overcome these challenges that you have identified. Justify the response.

Cheryl Montoya picked up the phone and called her boss, Wes Chan, Vice President of Marketing at Piedmont Fasteners Corporation.

Cheryl: “Wes, I’m not sure how to go about answering the questions that came up at the meeting with the President yesterday.” Wes: “What’s the problem?”. Cheryl: “The president wanted to know the break-even point for each of the company’s products, but I am having trouble figuring them out.” Wes: “I’m sure you can handle it, Cheryl. And, by the way, I need your analysis on my desk tomorrow morning at 8:00 sharp in time for the follow-up meeting at 9:00.”

Piedmont Fasteners Corporation makes three different clothing fasteners at its manufacturing facility in North Carolina. Data concerning these products appear below:

The company has a very effective lean production system, so there is no beginning or ending work in process or finished-goods inventories.

Using the module readings, the Argosy University online library resources, and the Internet, research break-even point and costing systems. Analyze the case based on your research and what you have learned so far in the course.

Respond to the following:

• Calculate the company’s overall break-even point in total sales dollars. Explain your methodology (approximately 2 pages).
• Of the total fixed costs of $400,000: $20,000 could be avoided if the Velcro product were dropped, $80,000 if the Metal product were dropped, and $60,000 if the Nylon product were dropped. The remaining fixed costs of $240,000 consist of common fixed costs such as administrative salaries and rent on the factory building that could be avoided only by going out of business entirely (approximately 2 pages):
  • Calculate the break-even point in units for each product. Explain your methodology.
  • Determine the overall profit of the company if the company sells exactly the break-even quantity of each product. Present your results.
• Evaluate costing systems for this company. Explain if this company should be using a job-order or process-costing system to accumulate costs (1 page).

Be sure to include your calculations in Microsoft Excel format.

Assignment 2: Personality Disorders—Fact or Fiction?

Personality disorders are chronic and persistent behavioral and emotional disturbances that are often difficult to treat. Some professionals argue that these disorders are not mental disorders at all, but personality styles—that these individuals are just odd or unusual. Review your text book and a minimum of two peer reviewed references and develop an argument for or against the inclusion of personality disorders as a diagnostic category in the next version of the DSM. Be sure to support your position with relevant research on the causation, diagnosis, and treatment of personality disorders.

Develop your position into a 2-3-page paper in Word format. Apply APA standards to citation of sources and include a cover page and reference page. Use the following file naming convention: LastnameFirstInitial_M4_A2.doc.
