Over the last fifteen weeks, you examined and reflected on various business communication concepts including your strengths in business writing and business speaking. You also identified areas to improve in both writing and speaking. Peer assessment gave you the opportunity to examine and express your learning and offer feedback on each others’ work.  Based on your experiences, please reflect on your overall course learning experiences including areas that requires improvement. I am positive you may also have some useful suggestions and recommendations on ways to make this course much more student friendly.

Organization Project – 4: Leadership, Communications, and Teams

Research your chosen company (Wells Fargo) .  Find a minimum of one library source, which will support your thesis in this assignment.  Review your assigned weekly lecture and text reading.  Select from this reading 3-5 key concepts, which will also support your thesis.  In a two to three page paper, address the questions below.  Your paper should follow APA format including a title and reference page.  The two to three page paper length requirement does NOT include the title page and reference page.  Refer to your classroom area titled South University Policies and Guideline: Using APA Standards in Your Coursework to ensure you are following the correct format.

Describe both the formal and informal communication methods within the organization.  Address whether or not the organization uses effective communication techniques.  Evaluate the role culture plays in both the formal and informal methods of communication.  Make recommendations for improvement for both informal and formal communications.   Describe how the organization uses teams.  Evaluate the effectiveness of the use of teams based on the model of team effectiveness described by Daft.

For this project, you are going to evaluate the systematic risk of an investment portfolio. It can be an imaginary portfolio that you would like to put together to park your retirement savings, or your real 401(k) portfolio. To simplify the project, we are not going to include bonds, ETFs, mutual funds, etc. Or in other words, we are going to investigate a portfolio composed of only stocks. For example, your ideal portfolio can comprise the following stocks: IBM (5%), APPL (5%), GOOG (10%), DIS (10%), C (5%), WMT (20%), ALM (5%), GM (10%), JNJ (10%), GE (5%), KFT (5%), MCD (10%). Note the weights in the parenthesis (percentage of total funding) have to add up to 100%. Your portfolio may include more stocks than this example because it normally takes more than 30 stocks (Statman, 1987) for a portfolio to be qualified as a well diversified portfolio. Beta measures the systematic risk (non-diversifiable risk) of a stock. Mysterious as it may sound, it can be easily found out by regressing the stock’s monthly excess return (return in excess of risk free rate) on market monthly excess return according to the following model: R_it-R_ft=α_i+β_i (R_mt-R_ft )+e_it Equivalently Equivalently the dependent variable Y the independently variable X where, R_it is the return of stock i on month t; R_ft is the risk free return on month t, normally a 3-month treasury bill serves a good proxy; R_mt is the market return on month t, normally S&P 500 return serves a good proxy; β_i is the beta for stock i; α_i is the intercept for stock i; e_it is the error term. To find the beta for stock i, you need to obtain the data of R_it-R_ft as dependent variable Y and R_mt-R_ft as the independent variable X. beta is simply the regression coefficient. After you find beta for each individual stock i, the portfolio beta is simply β_p=∑_(i=1)^n▒w_i β_i where w_i is the weight of stock i in the portfolio. Note you need to run regression analysis for each stock. If your portfolio contains 30 stocks, you will need to run 30 regressions and find 30 beta’s respectively. Comment on how you find beta is related to the stock’s industry (Finance? Manufacturing? Retail? Utility?) or relate to the company’s size (market capitalization). For example, it is generally accepted that utility stocks have low beta’s while technology stocks have high beta’s. In your report, I am looking for: 1. What stocks are in your portfolio? What is the weight (percentage of total investment) for each stock? 2. What is the historical period you choose to access the data? (Example: Jan 1981- Dec 2000) 3. Report beta for each stock. 4. Final Project

Imagine you are a policymaker or city council member and are actively involved in improving the lives of the vulnerable.  Via the first two written assignments, you have already selected one vulnerable population, which is in need of a new program or service within your community. You will research and design a presentation (APA style Paper or PowerPoint Presentation), which you will present at the next city meeting to advocate for your special population group. 
The Final Project should demonstrate an understanding of the reading assignments, class discussions, as well as your own research and application of new knowledge. It must contain the following elements below and be re-written in your own words (you are welcome to refer to your previous assignments for guidance, but do not copy and paste from them):

1. A description of why this population group is vulnerable and in desperate need for help within your community.
2. Identification of the health service needs of this special population.
3. In order to support your claims and opinions, cite statistical data obtained from the county health department, state health department, and/or other organizations and agencies.

Design a model program or service, which is needed to improve the lives of your chosen population within your community. Remember to design a new program not currently existent within your community.  In your design, include the following:

1. A description of the continuum of care level (preventive, treatment, or long-term care) your program or service fall into and how it meets the needs of your selected group.  
2. An analysis of the delivery modes of health services to be included.
3. A discussion regarding the multidisciplinary approach that is incorporated into the program.
4. An analysis of the role of legal and ethical requirements in the design of the program.
5. Identification of a minimum of two community agencies/organizations you would like to partner with in some way(s) in order to implement this program/service.  Explain why you would like to partner with these organizations and how can they help or benefit you with the implementation of your program/service.
6. Analysis of the current funding sources for provision of health services to this special population. Discuss the use of integrated funding. Based on your research, identify a minimum of two funding sources that may potentially provide monetary sponsorship for your program or service.  Explain why these entities would be likely funding sources.
