Evidence-based practice is an essential part of providing safe, quality patient care in nursing. It involves the collection, evaluation, and integration of valid research evidence, combined with clinical expertise and an understanding of patient and family values and preferences, to inform clinical decision making (LoBiondo-Wood & Haber, 2006).
