PICOT Question:For patients 18 years and older on a medical-surgical unit, what is the impact of implementing the AHRQ’s Fall TIPS Toolkit, compared to current practice, on patient fall rate over 8-10 weeks?Examine potential barriers to disseminating DNP practice change projects and how these barriers can be overcome. The process in research that involves sharing new information with those with an invested interest is known as dissemination (AHRQ, 2020). Dissemination of information discovered through research is critical to implementing an evidence-based intervention to improve patient outcomes (Derman & Jaeger, 2018). Common barriers to dissemination include lack of strategy, and interest by stakeholders, and inadequate time and resources (NIHR, 2019). To avoid common barriers to disseminating evidence-based research, the researcher must have a strategy in planning the dissemination, including knowing the purpose, message, audience, method, and timing (AHRQ, 2020).How did your preceptor/mentor provide timely feedback when you had questions and serve as a professional role model as you implemented your project?I did not implement a project as a DNP student during the global COVID-19 pandemic. As an alternative, I conducted a case study and integrative review on preventing patient falls in the acute care setting. Throughout the process, the faculty served as mentors. A mentor is an experienced professional who uses their knowledge to help guide, support, and advise a mentee (Nersesian et al., 2019). My mentors for this session were the course faculty Dr. Baldomero and the course leader, Dr. Schroetter. Both faculty members were very responsive to email and Canva Messaging inquiries. They typically responded within 24 hours. They are professional role models. They are detailed with the information required to complete assignments, provide thoughtful feedback, and are very supportive, encouraging, and helpful. According to Heitzler & Fullbright (2021, p.46), “Great mentors come with a positive attitude, are invested in the project and the student’s success, value collaboration, and use an individualized approach to mentor the student.”Cyntrel JaneauReferencesAgency for Healthcare Research and Quality. answer the question

In the case of Minot, smoke-free dining was not the first step toward greater protection against tobacco. A coalition of health, education, and advocates, Stop Tobacco’s Access to Minors Program (STAMP), came together with the aim of reducing tobacco sales to minors (Mason et. al; 2021).Do you think tobacco prevention and control is an important issue to nursing? Why or why not?

identifying ethical dilemmas in professional nursing practice.

As you begin your first clinical site rotation, the preceptor asks you about the ethical treatment of clients with Alzheimer’s disease. You are not sure of how to respond, so she suggests you review the Belmont Report. You see that this report has three principles: beneficence, justice, and respect for persons.Select one of these principles and describe why it is essential to you as a professional nurse when caring for clients with Alzheimer’s Disease and their familyDescribe a possible scenario that reflects how nursing services are applied with the principle that you selected.Response PostsResponse Post 1: After reviewing the post of your colleagues, select one that has chosen a Belmont Report principle different than your own and comment on how it is different yet complementary to the principle you selected.Response Post 2: Find a classmate that has chosen the same principle yet described a different scenario. Describe how your classmate’s case may or may not reflect the two Belmont Report principles that he or she did not highlight. Please make your initial post by midweek, and respond to at least two other student’s post by the end of the week. All posts require references AND in-text citations in full APA format. Information must be paraphrased and not quoted. Please check the Course Calendar for specific due dates. NOTE: Finalized postings must be submitted by deadlines. Any edits after deadline will be counted as late submissions and deducted accordingly. If you need to make any corrections for clarity’s sake only, you can write an addendum as a reply to yourself. The initial post will still be the one receiving full grade.

APA , Nursing

Kindly respond to the discussion post.250words, APA format, 1-2 references.Thank you. After completing this program I am more aware of evidence-based practices and their effects on nursing care. I am also able to think about what is ethically correct in my practice. This change project has shown me just how much planning goes in to any change that relates to nursing practice. There are many intricate steps to change practices based on evidence. One must find valid evidence that shows pertinent information to the problem. Sometimes it is quite difficult to find sufficient evidence. I struggled finding enough evidence to support my proposed change. There simply isn’t much research being done on surgical ‘never events’. Good supporting evidence is something I will never take for granted. “Best evidence includes empirical evidence from randomized controlled trials; evidence from other scientific methods such as descriptive and qualitative research; as well as use of information from case reports, scientific principles, and expert opinion” (Titler, 2008).Ethically, surgical ‘never events’ should never occur as it is our duty as health care professionals to protect our patients from harm. Since most ‘never events’ are harmful to the patient it is our duty to prevent them to the best of our abilities. Since I work in a surgery department this aspect of my change project has changed my outlook on my career. I will do my due diligence to ensure that I follow Universal Protocol and other measures to ensure my patient is correct with the correct procedure and site.My outlook on my career also changed when I learned that the culture of nursing sometimes does not encourage staff to speak up when there is an issue or error. Oftentimes surgical ‘never events’ occur due to a simple error or overlooking something or that someone saw a mistake or had a concern and did not speak up. Or if someone made a mistake and knew it but chose not to say anything. The culture is often geared toward punishment of mistakes rather than learning from them. I will always put my best foot forward and speak up whether I have made a mistake or someone else has made a mistake. Advocating for patients shouldn’t depend on whether you will be penalized for a mistake or not.ReferencesTitler, M. (2008). The Evidence for Evidence-Based Practice Implementation.
