Nursing  Fundamentals of practical nursing

Health care professionals play a crucial role in helping to prevent and control infectious disease. Nurses are an important factor in helping to prevent the spread of infection. As a nurse it is extremely important to understand the infection process, the chain of infection, and prevention techniques. In the TWO scenarios below, describe in paragraph form what you as a health care provider would do in these situations. Describe what was done right, what was done incorrectly, and what measures could be taken to improve infection control in each scenario.Scenario 1A man is recovering from a minor surgical procedure. His son, daughter-in-law, and grandson come to visit him. His daughter-in-law is suffering from what appears to be a bad cold and, although hospital policies prohibit children under the age of 10 from visiting patients in this ward, the 3-year-old grandson still came up.You notice that the woman is sneezing and coughing into her hands. You also notice that the child keeps moving from his mother’s lap to the patient’s lap in the hospital bed. In addition, you observe that the woman is changing the television stations on the remote control to find something the child can watch.Scenario 2A charge nurse on a medical/surgical unit approaches a computer and notices that the keyboard is visibly soiled. She goes to a supply closet to get some disinfectant wipes to clean the keys. When she returns, she notes that a nurse is sitting at the computer using the soiled keyboard. As she watches, the nurse picks up a patient chart, makes a note, and then returns to the keyboard. When she is finished typing, the nurse walks away from the computer and heads for one of the patient rooms.Submit your completed assignment by following the directions linked below. Nursing  Reply 1 and 2 ,150 words each by 10/8/2021 at 6:00 pm

Reply 1Jean Watson’s Theory of Caring, focuses on the promotion of health, prevention of disease, taking care of patients, and getting them back to their baseline (No author, 2020). To accomplish this, Watson believed in the importance of holistic caring, where the focus is on the whole of the patient. There are seven assumptions that the theory of caring focuses on;Caring is done through interpersonal relationships.Caring is meeting the needs of the patients.Caring helps enhance the health of the patient and their family members.Caring is looking at who the patient is and who the patient is to be.Caring involves an environment where the patient can thrive and make choices for themselves.Caring goes hand in hand with curing the patient.Caring is the focus of the field of nursing (PSYCH-MENTAL HEALTH NP, 2020).This theory allows the nurses to create and work within an environment focused on the patient. By allowing this to take place, patients begin to trust the provider and become more accepting of the care provided to them. This trust leads to the healing of the patient in a physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual context.References:No author. (2020, July 21). Watson’s philosophy and science of caring. It is often used to explain and predict particular phenomenon in clinical practice.  Peterson defined a phenomenon as a reality designation (Peterson & Bredow, 2017, pg 1).One theory that I believe is particularly applicable to research is Katherine Kolcaba’s theory of comfort. Peterson defined comfort as the experience of gaining strength through having one physical, psychospiritual, sociocultural, and environmental needs met through relief, ease, and transcendence (Peterson & Bredow, 2017, pg 196). Kolcaba explained that ease is a state of calm or contentment; relief as the meeting of specific comfort needs; and transcendence as when one rises above problems or pain (Peterson & Bredow, 2017, pg 197).Coelho, Parola, Escobar-Bravo, and Apóstolo (2016) used Kolcaba’s theory of comfort to analyze the impact of comfort in palliative care. First, the authors looked at the factors that affect a patient’s comfort experience, which included physical and psychological comfort.  It was explained in the article that the psychological aspects of comfort are often overlooked and not fully delivered to patients. Next, the authors analyzed how patients experienced comfort in a palliative setting from the patient’s perspective.   The study intended to understand what prevents the patients from receiving comfort to create and execute comfort interventions.ReferenceCoelho, A., Parola, V., Escobar-Bravo, M., & Apóstolo, J.
