Nursing  APA Peripheral Vascular Disease

Peripheral Vascular Disease Case StudiesA 52-year-old man complained of pain and cramping in his right calf caused by walking two blocks. The pain was relieved with cessation of activity. The pain had been increasing in frequency and intensity. Physical examination findings were essentially normal except fordecreased hair on the right leg. The patient’s popliteal, dorsalis pedis, and posterior tibialpulses were markedly decreased compared with those of his left leg.StudiesResultsRoutine laboratory workWithin normal limits (WNL)Doppler ultrasound systolic pressuresFemoral: 130 mm Hg; popliteal: 90 mm Hg; posterior tibial: 88 mm Hg; dorsalis pedis: 88 mm Hg (normal: same as brachial systolic blood pressure)Arterial plethysmographyDecreased amplitude of distal femoral, popliteal, dorsalis pedis, and posterior tibial pulse wavesFemoral arteriography of right legObstruction of the femoral artery at the midthigh levelArterial duplex scanApparent arterial obstruction in the superficial femoral arteryDiagnostic AnalysisWith the clinical picture of classic intermittent claudication, the noninvasive Doppler and plethysmographic arterial vascular study merely documented the presence and location of the arterial occlusion in the proximal femoral artery. Most vascular surgeons prefer arteriography to document the location of the vascular occlusion. The patient underwent a bypass from the proximal femoral artery to the popliteal artery. After surgery he was asymptomatic.Critical Thinking QuestionsWhat was the cause of this patient’s pain and cramping? Why was there decreased hair on the patient’s right leg? What would be the strategic physical assessments after surgery to determine theadequacy of the patient’s circulation? What would be the treatment of intermittent Claudication for non-occlusion?

Use the article below, chapters 6-8 in your textbook, and the movie (“Miss Evers’ Boys”) to help guide your answers. Most of these questions do not have a right or wrong answer. Was this study unethical in 1932?Why or why not?If you feel the study was ethical, was there a point when it became unethical?Did the study provide valuable information? How could the study have been done differently? How do you think the subjects felt about their participation?Did they think they were being treated unfairly?Does the answer change over time (1930s, 1940s, 1950s, etc.)?Should they have thought to question the MDs or Nurse Rivers? What was the impact of recruiting at churches and schools on test subjects? What was Nurse Rivers’ role in the project? What is your opinion of her role? Was Nurse Rivers negligent or did she commit malpractice? Why or why not?Think of a research question or study pertinent to a specific race, ethnicity, or culture. How would you ensure the ethical recruitment of subjects?Imagine you are the nurse in a modern-day, ethical, TSS-like study. How would you use each of the five elements of cultural competence for the selected population?Which modern-day, government agencies could be involved in a health-related research study? How might they be involved?Part 2Lack of diversity in clinical trials and research has increasingly been highlighted as a problem.Hypothesize one reason (whether methodological, social, ethical, or other) why a lack of diversity has been a persistent issue in clinical trials and research. What is one potential solution for your hypothesized reason?Your initial post should be at least 400 words and supported with at least one additional scholarly source. Please be sure to validate your opinions and ideas with citations and references in APA format. The post and responses are valued at 75 points. Nursing  ASSIGNMENT 6050 M-3

Assignment: Regulation for Nursing Practice Staff Development MeetingNursing is a very highly regulated profession. There are over 100 boards of nursing and national nursing associations throughout the United States and its territories. Their existence helps regulate, inform, and promote the nursing profession. In this Assignment, you will practice the application of such expertise by communicating a comparison of boards of nursing and professional nurse associations. Nursing  Appraising Systematic Reviews

Obesity is a serious threat throughout the United States with two-thirds of its population at risk.  Worldwide, individuals are continuously challenged with being overweight or obese (Wang et al., 2017).  As healthcare evolves, technology has a significant effect and role in preventive care.  Preventive care can be complicated when addressing the national practice problem of obesity.  The advancement of technology in utilizing mobile and wireless platforms can improve the outcome in preventing obesity (Wang et al., 2017).  Although technology seems to be promising, ongoing research is imperative in discovering the effectiveness (Vaz et al., 2018).  Individuals are likely to become more successful with the help of others coupled with the use of technology in losing weight (Hammersly, Jones, & Okely, 2016).Does the research design answer the research question? Explain your rationale.Systematic reviews with meta-analysis combines data with an analysis based on a variety of studies.  This research design is based on evaluating data from several studies with similar topics that involve randomized-controlled trials (RCTs) (Ahn & Kang, 2018).  The selected library search was on a systematic review with meta-analysis addressing the intervention of eHealth models to reduce childhood obesity (Hammersly, Jones, & Okely, 2016).Were the study sample participants representative? Why or why not?The study sample included eight studies, involving 1,487 parent and child or adolescent dyads.  Three studies consisted of obesity prevention trials and five studies resulted in obesity treatment trials.  Study sample participants were represented but would have benefited greater from a larger study (Hammersly, Jones, & Okely, 2016).Compare and contrast the study limitations in this study.Limitations within this study included the sample size that could have involved a larger sample size.  Quality of the interventions were not deemed high and a longer timeframe is warranted (Hammersly, Jones, & Okely, 2016).Based on this evidence summary, would you consider this systematic review as support for your selected practice problem? Explain your rationale. After reviewing the evidence summary, this systematic review can be considered as support.  Parts from in-person interventions into eHealth platforms can be successful given a longer time and larger population to study.ReferencesAhn, E., & Kang, H. Nursing  Healthcare Technology, Local, National, and Global Considerations

Imagine that you are a public health nurse, and you and your colleagues have determined that the threat of a deadly new strain of influenza indicates a need for a mass inoculation program in your community. What public health data would have been used to determine the need for such a program? Where would you locate public health data? What data will be collected to determine the success of such a program? How might you communicate this to other communities or internationally? If you found a new strain that could potentially be a community health issue, what would you do? Think in terms of mode of transmission, vulnerable populations, etc. What data needs to be collected?APA in-text citations includedand references1-2 paragraphs long
