Nursing  discussion question

Discussion: Treatment of Neurocognitive DisordersNeurocognitive disorders (NCD) such as delirium,  dementia, and amnestic disorders are more prevalent in older adults. As  the population ages and as life expectancy in the United States  continues to increase, the incidence of these disorders will continue to  increase. Cognitive functioning such as memory, language, orientation,  judgment, and problem solving are affected in clients with NCDs. Caring  for someone with a neurocognitive disorder is not only challenging for  the clinician, but also stressful for the family. The PMHNP needs to  consider not only the client but also the “family as client.”  Collaboration with primary care providers and specialty providers is  essential. Anticipatory guidance also becomes extremely important. In this Discussion, you will integrate several  sources of knowledge specific to NCDs as you discuss evidenced-based  therapies used to treat these disorders. To prepare for this Discussion:By Day 5 of Week 7, your Instructor will have assigned you a  neurocognitive disorder, which will be the focus for your initial post  for this Discussion. :Review the Learning Resources.NEUROCOGNITIVE DISORDER ASSIGNED: Neurocognitive Disorder Due to Alzheimer’s DiseaseBy Day 3Post:Explain the diagnostic criteria for your assigned neurocognitive disorder.Explain the evidenced-based psychotherapy and psychopharmacologic treatment for your assigned neurocognitive disorder.Identify the risks of different types of therapy and explain how  the benefits of the therapy that might be achieved might outweigh the  risks.Support your rationale with references to the Learning Resources or other academic resource.NOTE: Explain every question asked in detail pleaseUse at least 3 references

1-Statistics are extremely important in every research/study conducted and are even important in our everyday lives. Statistics can be used in many ways, some might use it to prove a new procedure should be used due to evidence based research, some might use it to evalute cause and effect, and some might even use it to sway the populations opinion or views on a certain topic. Statistics can absolutely be used for the betterment of the community or it is be used negatively (whether it is intentional or not). There are many different examples of statistics being used inappropriately. Statisticshowto gives great examples of statistics being used in a negative way:”Anyone      remember Colgate’s claim that 80% of dentists recommended the      brand? You won’t be seeing that slogan again, at least not in the UK.      Consumers were led to believe that 80% of dentists recommended Colgate      while 20% recommended other brands. It turns out that when dentists were      surveyed, they could choose several brands — not just one. So other brands      could be just as popular as Colgate. This completely misleading statistic      was banned by the Advertising Standards Authority””In      2009 and 2010, Reebok made the following claims about its EasyTone and      RunTone shoes: Lab tests “proved” that the shoes work “your hamstrings and      calves up to 11% harder and tone your butt up to 28% more than regular      sneakers … just by walking!”. The figures turned out to be complete      garbage. The FTC stated that Reebok needed to pay a settlement of $25      million for deceptive advertising.””Perhaps      the most famous case ever of misleading statistics in the news is the case      of Sally Clark, who was convicted of murdering her children. She was      freed after it was found the statistics used in her murder trial were      completely wrong.”Statisticshowto (2014) Misleading statistics examples in advertising and the news. Retrieved from http://www.statisticshowto.com/misleading-statistics-examples/2-The misuse of statistics is common in society trying to influence or drive certain agendas in many fields such as healthcare, sports, politics, advertisement and many others. For the Prime Minister Benjamin to classify statistics as a form of lie, he was not further from the truth, but there is a pre-condition, which should address how researchers are applying the given statistics. When done openly and without bias, while avoiding errors, would increase, the validity and accuracy of conclusions made from the study.3-Statistics involves mathematical procedures, which involves all the details from conducting a certain research to the conclusion of the research. It starts with raw data collected, compiling of such data, analyzing the data, drawing conclusions before representation. Misuse of statistical data sets happens when researchers and those conducting the study mishandle the data either willingly or unwillingly. Errors made during the process of research end up bringing about mistakes in conclusion while intentional errors are supposed to help spread a certain bias as noted in your hotel advertisement.

Nursing  Psychopharmacologic Approaches to Treatment of Psychopathology

PMHNPs may find themselves working in a wide variety of settings—each having their own unique challenges and inherent legal issues. For instance, what do you do in your state of practice when you are providing a therapy/treatment session and a client reports active suicidal ideation? What do you do if you are covering inpatient psychiatric consults and are called to see a patient in the ICU who overdosed on prescription medication requiring intubation? What do you do if you are a PMHNP on an inpatient unit and a client who admitted themselves on a voluntary basis suddenly states that they have decided to sign themselves out of the hospital so that they can go home to kill themselves? These are just some of the legal questions that PMHNPs must know the answers to specific to their state of licensure/practice.In this Assignment, you investigate your state’s laws concerning voluntary and involuntary commitment. You also analyze a case to determine if the client is eligible for involuntary commitment.Scenario for Week 7 Case:You are a PMHNP working in a large intercity hospital. You receive a call from the answering service informing you that a “stat” consult has been ordered by one of the hospitalists in the ICU. Upon arriving in the ICU, you learn that your consult is a 14 year old male who overdosed on approximately 50 Benadryl (diphenhydramine hydrochloride) tablets in an apparent suicide attempt. At the scene, a suicide note was found indicating that he wanted to die because his girlfriend’s parents felt that their daughter was too young to be “dating.” The client stated in the suicide note that he could not “live without her” and decided to take his own life. Although he has been medically stabilized and admitted to the ICU, he has been refusing to talk with the doctors or nurses. The hospital staff was finally able to get in touch with the clients parents (using contact information retrieved from the 14 year old’s cell phone). Unbeknown to the hospital staff, the parents are divorced, and both showed up at the hospital at approximately the same time, each offering their own perspectives on what ought to be done. The client’s father is demanding that the client be hospitalized because of the suicide, but his mother points out that he does not have “physical custody” of the child. The client’s mother demands that the client be discharged to home with her stating that her son’s actions were nothing more than a “stunt” and “an attempt at manipulating the situation that he didn’t like.” The client’s mother then becomes “nasty” and informs you that she works as a member of the clerical staff for the state board of nursing, and if you fail to discharge her child “right now” she will make you “sorry.” How would you proceed? The Assignment (2–3 pages):Based on the scenario, would you recommend that the client be voluntarily committed? Why or why not?Based on the laws in your state, would the client be eligible for involuntary commitment? Explain why or why not.Did understanding the state laws confirm or challenge your initial recommendation regarding involuntarily committing the client? Explain. If the client were not eligible for involuntary commitment, explain what actions you may be able to take to support the parents for or against voluntary commitment. If the client were not eligible for involuntary commitment, explain what initial actions you may be able to take to begin treating the client.Minimum of 3 references
