The therapeutic factors that are most salient to a therapy group can be based on group member demographics. As an example, the military has its own culture, which values resilience, tradition, and adaptability. Even branches within the military can have their own culture affecting attitudes, values, beliefs, and behaviors. In contrast, the Deaf community is a linguistic minority culture that emphasizes collectivism, open communication, and physical contact. These cultural aspects can have an impact on what therapeutic factors might be the most helpful, and which factors might bring little value to the therapy group members.

For this Discussion, select a culture (e.g., military, college students, ethnic group, Deaf community) with which you are familiar. Consider how the culture’s attitudes, values, and beliefs might impact therapeutic factors during group therapy.

The scientific method is useful in problem solving and decision-making in a wide variety of fields. In this assignment, you will demonstrate how to use the scientific method to make decisions and solve problems in your field of study or everyday life.

Write a three to five (3-5) page paper in which you:

The Discussion Board (DB) is part of the core of online learning. Classroom discussion in an online environment requires the active participation of students and the instructor to create robust interaction and dialogue. Every student is expected to create an original response to the open-ended DB question as well as engage in dialogue by responding to posts created by others throughout the week. At the end of each unit, DB participation will be assessed based on both level of engagement and the quality of the contribution to the discussion.

At a minimum, each student will be expected to post an original and thoughtful response to the DB question and contribute to the weekly dialogue by responding to at least two other posts from students. The first contribution must be posted before midnight (Central Time) on Wednesday of each week. Two additional responses are required after Wednesday of each week. You are the lead investigator for a suspicious fire in the Novandon Fur Warehouse, which was cold storage for mink and sable fur coats. The fire scene investigative team tells you that the fire started in several points simultaneously, and it appears the telephone line that monitors the fire detection equipment has been cut. The fire was fully involved by the time the fire department arrived. The warehouse and the contents are a complete loss. You must consider the direction that your investigators must take to determine the possible motives for this fire. Direct them to look in at least 3 directions for a motive. Keep in mind the type of warehouse this was.

• Concerning the owner of the warehouse, what documentation would you get to help you establish potential motives? Why?

All literature involves some kind of performance which is intended for an audience. Sometimes, however, the performative quality of a work (i.e., the fact that it is being presented to an audience) is more obvious than at others. Drama and poetry, for example, tend to emphasize overt performance more than do short stories, which more often are read silently and in solitude. 

How is the more direct performative aspect of drama and/or poetry reflected in these forms? (Consider for example, each genre’s uses of literary structure, language, technique, and style.) How do these literary elements affect your reading experience?
